program description of CLTP9

Marco Alvarez Reyna

Class of CLTP9

Present Status: PhD Candidate
Present position: Head of Academic Laboratories, UFS/CONAE. Director of Mechatronic Club, UTN-FRC. Argentina
Field of specialization: Scientific Software. Distributed Aerospace Systems
Present Research Interests: AODS for cluster flight in fractionated spacecrafts

Statement of Purpose

I consider that CLTP will provide me with the necessary tools, knowledge and experience to accomplish some important goals: Through a better knowledge of CanSat philosophy, to be able to encourage undergraduate students to engage in satellite technology. To design and develop a CanSat course for undergraduate students in Argentina. To establish a solid relationship between the Preparatory Committee for UNISEC-Argentina and UNISEC-Global and CLTP committee and to make a network with CLTP students and graduates to promote the exchange of information, initiatives, and ideas. To learn about CanSat tech, to share with others and to have a great time!

Feedback from CLTP

CLTP provides an overview of an entire satellite-based space mission, and hands-on experience on essential technologies. A detailed HEPTASat integration process, subsystems verifications and the whole system was provided by the program. HEPTASat has a very efficient breakdown of subsystems. The teaching methodology used in the program is suitable for both beginners and professionals. Mission ideas may grow and have a great impact in future real small satellite missions. The text-book, and the assistant students are a key success factor.

Vision for the future

To encourage the regional development of space applications for social-economic purposes based on Small-Sat technology. To foster the approach between the academic field and the aerospace environment, particularly to undergraduate students. To demonstrate that it is possible to teach trough "small" but meaningful space-like projects and technologies like CanSat/HEPTASat.

Message for future CLTP participants

HEPTASat is a very powerful tool. It could be used in different countries to encourage and teach students and professionals, to develop creativity, technical knowledge, and aerospace. Team work is one of the most important and valuable characteristics of CLTP using HEPTASat, enjoy that! I love space, engineering and education. CLTP gave me the opportunity to enjoy all together. I wish you the same. You will learn, you will find a lot of wonderful people, and you will have a lot of fun!
I consider that space education is a way of achieving a model of society with high levels of equity and efficiency. CLTP is helping to pave that way for the next space generations!
